Will a propane furnace put off a smell through the ducts.?

I have never had propane before. I bought a house that is 12 years old that had a bad furnace. I just got a brand new furnace and I can smell a scent coming through the ducts. It smells like a light burning metal smell. Is it because the furnace is new or does propane have a scent?

What you are smelling is the new furnace burning off the oily protection on the burner and internal metals. It will dissipate in a few more cycles. You should NEVER smell any gas from a propane or a natural gas furnace, as the gas is supposed to burn completely and exhaust out the chimney. The put an additive in gas so it smells so bad that you want to fix it right now if you smell it.
