Can I safely cook on a propane camp stove indoors?

I actually have cooked on a camp stove indoors before I "knew better", and everything was fine. But I wonder if I was just lucky. Now I have a terrible electric stove that I hate and all I can find online are dire warnings that I will die if I use my propane stove indoors.

NO!
NO!!! It gives off too much carbon monoxide and being indoors it isn’t vented sufficiently.
Carbon Monoxide poisoning comes to mind. Couldn’t you just go buy a hotplate at WalMart for temporary use?

NO! Cabon monoxide is produced when the fire burns and can build up and kill you.
It really depends on what you are cooking and how you deal with the propane bottle.
There are many, many homes that use propane to cook with. We have a cooktop that uses propane, so the basic concept is okay. The risk has to do with leaks from your propane bottle and the fact that you have up to 20 pounds or more of propane stored in your home.
In most homes that use propane to cook, the storage is out doors and that eliminates the biggest risk.
There is also a risk if you don’t have ventilation for your cooker but that is really a pretty small risk because all houses that cook with natural gas or propane can have a build up to carbon monoxide if there is not sufficient ventilation and a CO monitor.
If you have a CO monitor in the kitchen you can eliminate that risk.
I like 3am’s idea about the hotplate or get a better stove. We’ve used a propane and even a white gas pump-up Coleman from time to time when the power has gone out but near an open window but it still isn’t a good idea.
Boy, people are paranoid. My propane home stove (a regular home-sized Whirlpool) gets propane from a big tank outside, and burns the stuff inside. There is no vent involved. We’ve been cooking on it for 10 years. What’s the difference with your camp stove? I can’t see any. Yes, it may produce carbon monoxide, but not all that much. Did you even feel sleepy when cooking on it? We don’t. As long as you are not cooking in a really small room, with closed doors, have no fear. You weren’t lucky before.

Not supposed to,kinda like smoking while pumping gas. Not a good idea. Also may void out your home insurance plan if you have one.**ETA : lawnboy…I think the person is talking about a stove with the tank inside the dwelling! Not the same as you have.**
Billions of indoor stoves use propane. The problem with your camp rig is it’s not very save to have the tank inside. The rig doesn’t have a safety device to shut off the gas if the flame goes out. All propane stoves do put out carbon monoxide so it’s not a good idea to run them all day for heat. Some heaters do run on propane and do not vent outside so some carbon monoxide is not going to kill you. Might be a good idea to get a detector to tell you how much is in the house if you run the heaters.
Yes, you can cook indoors with a propane stove, but you MUST have proper ventilation. An overhead kitchen hood is the best application, a ceiling exhaust fan would work also. If neither of those are in place, be sure to have a window open for fresh air to come in. NEVER use an unvented gas fired appliance as a heater. You can become very sick, and even die from carbon monoxide poisoning.
We have been useing propane for years with our standard home range, we are still alive and fine. A camp stove is a little more hazardous though. Be careful of fires. And it’s not really recommended to have tanks indoors.
